Khumbha Mela




You can read more on this holiday here. Khumbla Mela is a festival with Vedic roots, it celebrates the churning of the "milky sea" by the gods who engaged a twelve-year long epic battle with demons for the prize of immortality.

The cities that host the festival rotate, this year it will be hosted in Hardiwar. Khumbla Mela is the largest gathering in the world, with 10 million people attending. The celebration started on January 10th, with millions of attendants submerging themselves in the river Ganges for purification.
